Nights in Rodanthe). This time I am shooting in my own shop. I spent the last week with fellow woodworker, friend and videographer, David Esposito. Together we are producing a companion video version of my book “
Making and Mastering Wood Planes“. Like someone once said, “sometimes seeing it done is better than reading about it”. In this case seeing it done is welcome support to all the detail

And while the book provides lots of additional instruction on the fundamentals of fine woodworking (all of it relevant to plane making), this video takes a more focused look at the subject and may just provide you with the nuances needed to really excel at plane making and using. For anyone that would like to be notified about the video’s availability there is a link on my News and New Work” web page that will put you on my notification list: http://www.davidfinck.com/newswork.htm We are making good progress, at the final edit stage, and it is looking like a good, informative video. My videographer, David Esposito, did a great job of documenting the process and even managed to occasionally jolt me out of my camera shyness. I’ll look into the possibility of downloads, but it would be a big file unless streamed: currently 2 DVDs and about 4-1/2 hours of instruction.
