Garrick Green is plenty smooth, but he’s no “osage orange smoother”.

At McPherson College, Garrick is an integral part of one of the most unique four-year college programs I’m aware of. He’s been the chair of the Auto Restoration Program for many years and and taught the metals and paint side of that craft. Lately he’s switching over to woodworking classes. Besides the more typical wood trim we might all associate with older cars, he informed me that all chassis built before 1930 were made of wood too!
We spent a few pleasant days together learning about wood planes and a few other fundamentals of fine woodworking. Here’s that osage orange smoother:
