Lighting
The Con-Sho Lantern and Con-Sho Sconce transform interior space into a refuge -- a place of comforting shelter. The mica shade transmits a warm glow radiating a sense of peacefulness throughout a room. Mica is a mineral that when embedded in shellac resin provides a material beautifully suited for lampshades -- it's durable, easily molded, and naturally variegated. A few well-placed Japanese maple leaves and branches laminated within the shade (collected and pressed from a tree in my yard) livens the surface. The wood framework is typically oak, cherry, or walnut. Hand-fitted mortise and tenon joinery assures heirloom quality. The curved hoops are steam-bent. All surfaces are hand-planed to perfection, burnished with fine shavings to a glowing patina, then finished with garnet shellac. Limited production, made to order.
