The identical performance of the plane irons for your 151 pattern spokeshave! The 1/8" thick irons makes free-hand sharpening easier and closes down the throat opening of the tool for improved performance on difficult woods. Curved bottom spokeshaves will usually still have sufficient clearance for shavings. Flat bottom tools may require some judicious filing of the front of the throat opening to allow shaving clearance - this is ideal for custom tailoring of the throat opening and you will find that cast iron is not difficult to file.
Please Note: My new spoke shave blade features a redesigned "butterfly" slot (I need to up date the photo) which is machined to close tolerances and may, in fact be too narrow for some adjusting nuts. For a perfect fit, it is a simple matter to thin the lip of the nut that inserts into the butterfly slot, with just a tad of sanding or filing. The payoff is slop-free, jam-free adjusting -- very nice! Your satisfaction is guaranteed. Send your purchase back for a full refund if it fails to perform as desired.
